It was the chess board that taught me this. I'm sure you will hear people say "chess teaches you to think and plan ahead", "chess teaches you to strategize", you will hear things like that. These things are true, but they are not the most important things the board has to teach you.
It has taught me to manage my internal self, to pause and respond to things, instead if react.
It has taught me to really think and see from other people's perspective, so i can then see and think with the most clarity
It has taught me to not just finish things that I have started, but to finish them steadily throughout. The chess board evolves from the opening to the middle game to the end game, and it's important to play steady from beginning to end.
It has taught me to actually "love to lose" because I have played over 5,000 games of chess and I've lost half of them. I learned to love my losses because that's when I learn the most, about how to be better the next time.
