The Philosophy
Scotty did not just develop a real skill of teaching the game, but he made the connections between the lessons of chess & life. Scotty believes that the patience, perspective, planning, and meta-cognition skills learned at the board are the very tools children need to navigate their futures with confidence.
Scotty as an Older Brother
As an older brother whose younger siblings (15-year age gap) are his favorite people in the world, Scotty brings a natural, familial warmth to his teaching. He treats every student with the same patience and high expectations he holds for his own family.

The Opening
Scotty started out his chess journey at 10 years old, when his mom taught him the rules of the game.
A decade later Scotty got back into playing chess through his favorite app on his phone, the chess app. It was through playing over 6,500 games online, analyzing grandmaster games, playing over the board, and entering a few tournaments that Scotty got good at the game.
At the age of 27, Scotty's understanding of the board reached new levels. This is when, through BeTa Community Programs, he began to teach chess at the Elementary Schools in Saratoga.

Scotty has a little brother and sister that are his favorite people in the world, he does construction, likes to write, and loves being active. His most favorite pursuit in life is Prometheus Gives, his non-profit organization that has the mission of developing impoverished regions of Africa.
A Trusted Teacher
Through BeTa Community Programs, Scotty has dedicated years to teaching chess at Elementary Schools across Saratoga, fostering a culture of intellectual curiosity and sportsmanship in the local youth.
The Global Move
Scotty's most favorite pursuit in life is Prometheus Gives, his non-profit with the mission of developing impoverished regions of Africa. At Saratoga Chess School, we believe in check-mating extreme poverty that affects so many children around the world.
